5 Steps to Shift Your Limiting Beliefs for Good
Are you your own worst enemy?

Do you limit yourselves so much?

Are you living in your head?

Do you come up with ways to keep yourself from getting anything accomplished?

Even though deep down you know you are good enough, and how much you can get things.
It may feel like there is a constant battle going on in your head. Take a deep breath and breathe. You are not alone.

If we are being honest, I am sure everyone has these types of thoughts daily.

The difference between the “winners” and the people who feel stuck is one simple tool.
The “winners” have mastered their limiting beliefs.

What is a limiting belief?

A limiting belief is an idea or thought that has appeared in your head that doesn’t have your highest self in mind. Your mind is trying to keep you safe.

However, you are not the same person you were when you originally adopted those ideas.
You are wiser, stronger, and more aligned with your true self. You are waking up and becoming more aware.

The only way to get past these self-sabotaging behaviors is to take active, intentional steps to remedy your thinking.

Roll up your sleeves, grab a comfy blanket, your pens and journal and let’s get to ready to remove all the thoughts that are keeping you stuck.

5 steps that will shift your limiting beliefs for good.

Step 1 - Stop

Wait a hot minute; Hit the pause; Capture that thought. If a thought feels off, it’s time to stop and examine this idea much closer. Here is a hint, if that thought is negative or deflating, it is a limiting belief.

Step 2 -Think about what you are saying

Is there a lie in this thought? You’ve already known something feels off, or you wouldn’t be going through this process. This means something about that thought is not ringing true. When you understand where the lie is, it becomes easier to know how to counter it.

Step 3 - Look for proof

Is there any proof this self-limiting thought is true? Examine the part you feel is a lie, or slightly off. Here is where you need to take a step back from the situation if you can and look impartially at what is happening. Is there any grain of truth in what you‘re thinking? I encourage you to write it out. When you see the words on paper, it is easier to identify the lie.

Step 4 - Take Control

If what you were thinking is a lie, it’s relatively easy to counter the false aspects of the statement with the truth. But what if this thought was at least partially true? You start by reminding yourself this isn‘t always the case. Remember, you are not the same person you were, not even the same as yesterday.
For example, you might think you are always late. Maybe you are, in fact, late sometimes. To perform this step, you would need to recall various instances when you were on time. By countering the lie, you are taking control of the situation, and not allowing the limiting belief to have any sway over you.

Step 5 - Get Help

Often, it's challenging to remove limiting beliefs by yourself. In these instances, it's beneficial to talk to a friend, or even a counselor, to help you see the truth. There is nothing wrong with getting help, especially from someone who can be impartial.

Self-limiting beliefs don’t have to control your life. By examining your thoughts, especially those that seem to hold you back, it is much easier to move forward toward your goals.

Remember, if your thoughts aren’t cheering you on, then they are holding you back!

Which step will be the most impactful for you?
