This is my response to a post one of my sisters made on social media. For context her post was in regards to learning a family member passed away. Followed by a coworkers passing a few hours later.
THE GOOD STUFF
There is a lot to be said about having the mentality to push through and get things done. As you mentioned life does go on, people still depend on you and bills still need to be paid.
HOWEVER every so often there comes a time when your body demands that you take a day. And it is ok to say not today! To pull the blankets up over your head and allow the tears to flow.
Taking time to process your emotions is how we heal. And when we heal, we can show up for others to help them carry the hard things.
Sitting in discomfort shows others how to also process and learn how to take care of themselves. We need to stop pushing through so much.
Grief is a beast and loves to roar its ugly head when we least expect it. Take care of yourself as much as you always take care of others. The coming days will be hard, and lots of emotions will rise up to the top. But together we can overcome anything because love conquers all.
