If you ever cruise out of Seattle, and are offered the opportunity to use Post Valet Services, do it. You will thank me later.
The end of a cruise is hard enough. You have spent several marvelous days at sea, basking in the sun, eating yummy food, playing in the water, visiting different ports, maybe drinking some alcholol, eating more food, watching shows, listening to music, staying up late, possibly even gambling a little. Having someone pretty much cater to your ever need while aboard, and you are leaving that magically ship to return to reality, is hard!
Add all the above to having to disembark the ship with little ones and the stress levels can go through the roof in little to no time.
That is where Port Valet comes to the rescue.
At the begining of our trip, our room steward left us paperwork for Port Valet Service. We have cruised a lot and I have never heard of this program. The details on the page had me hooked and ready to sign up. Remember, we just started our 7 day cruise and here we were planning to disembark. Not really fun, but worth it.
According to the details on the paperwork. we needed to have the paperwork turned back in to either Guest Services or our room steward by Tuesday. If we added our loyalty airline mileage card information to the form we would not get charged for luggage fees. On the last night of the cruise we would need to have our luggage sitting outside our cabin by midnight. The cruiseline would check-in at the airport for us, and provide us with our boarding passes. All the above was doable.
Now fast forward to the disembarkation day, our time slot to leave the ship was 7:30 am. Our flight did not leave Seattle until 5:15 pm. We got up, got ready and waited for our group to be called. If you have ever cruised before you know that the last day disembarking can be a lot. It literally is hundreds of people being fed through lines shuttling you off the ship as fast as they can. Sometimes people are grumpy, some have no patience, and some people are struggling to push all their luggage causing a major pileup in the alley way. Let's not forget the toddler you decided to have the complete meltdown right in the middle of the line.
Our group was called and off we went to join the madhouse of people leaving the ship. Only there were no crowds. Custom lines were empty, the line flowed smoothly and we were off the ship in less than 10 minutes froom the time we lef our cabin. Did I mention we didn't have to drag our luggage?
Since we had several hours to spare before our flight left we decided to go visit the Space Needle. And since, we didn't have luggage to tote around it made this last adventure of our vacation painless. After checking out the Space Needle, we headed to the airport.
Once at Seattle Tacoma airport, we pulled out our boarding passes, and walked straight through security. In full transparency we all have TSA pre-check, so securtiy was a breeze.
Once we arrived back in Nashville our luggage was there waiting on us.
I can not brag enough about how easy using Port Valet Services were. I saved the best part about this service for the last...
Port Valet Services are FREE! Yes, free.
There was no additional charges for using this service. Now if you do not have an airline loyalty card, you would still need to pay luggage fess as you would normally do. But to usse the Port Valet Service there was no charge.
Take advantage of this worthwile service and extend your vacation sanity for a few more hours.
