There are many destinations to explore while in Juneau. Finding one that is affordable is a whole other story.
After hours of researching, we decided we would walk around the town and explore the port that way. In the past, those are the best excursions, I remember. Having the ability to see the town for what it really is and not the tourist side they showcase.

Stika is located on Baranof Island. Stika is the first and oldest city in Alaska. Stories have Stika dating back roughly 10,000 years old. And was home to the first Eurpoean settlements. Stika is isolated. You can only reach Stika by plane or boat. Although Stika is the 4th largest city in Alaska, Stika is the largest city in the United States.

Every cruise line has their own private island and MSC's is called Ocean Cay. Ocean Cay is located in the Bahamas.
The islands full name is Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. This spot was an industrial sand excavation site a few years ago. MSC has spent years transforming this island into the beauty that now stands.
The Welcome Band

A few things you need to know when arriving at Ocean Cay:
- You will have a full day on the island.
- Bring a beach towel from the ship. Or your own.
- There are 2 rental locations on the island. But I would reserve your rentals days before you get to the island. At a minimum you want an umbrella.
- no smoking on the beaches. You can smoke near the bars, but that is the only place.
- MSC requests guests to use reef safe sunscreen. This can be purchased at the shops on the island.
- There are snack bars and food located on the island.

Many private islands have become miniature water/amusements parks. I love the simplicity of this island. I wish more cruise lines would keep their islands basic. I love knowing this is the last stop of our vacation and this is a time to chill and soak in the last few minutes of leisure time. When the islands are set up like Ocean Cay, you get the chance to be together one last time.
At the end of the night, the famous red and light lighthouse shows off, with a light show. Be sure to grab a sit on the deck by the rail for the best view. If you have a balcony cabin that faces the lighthouse that is the best seat in the house.

On our last sea day we spent time at the pool relaxing. Since there was nothing exciting happening this day, I will share more pictures of the ship.
Our favorite lounge to hang out in was the Le Cabaret Lounge. In the early hours it wasn't crowded, had good music and great service.

From the ship, this looked like a beautiful port.
We were, however, encouraged to stay with our tour guides, or stay within the market area right off the ship, for our own safety. They strongly advised against solo travel. And be aware of scammers.
We were off the ship for about an hour. There wasn’t much to see in the close vicinity of where we were.
