Our Time in Stika
Stika is located on Baranof Island. Stika is the first and oldest city in Alaska. Stories have Stika dating back roughly 10,000 years old. And was home to the first Eurpoean settlements. Stika is isolated. You can only reach Stika by plane or boat.  Although Stika is the 4th largest city in Alaska, Stika is the largest city in the United States.

The signing of the Alaska purchase back in 1867, took place is Stika.

The Russians made Stika the Capital of Russian America. If you look closely there are Russian sights scattered through out. I believe the most magnificent sight is St Michaels Orthodox Catherdal in the middle of town.

We had fun exploring the city. However, if we had it to do over again, we would go to Stikas National Park. The park is a 10 minute walk from downtown area.
Once inside the park, you have the opportunity to see the Russians Bishops house, parks visitor center, Totem trail team, and 2 other trails. Other family members that went on the trip with us saw lots of wildlife.
