God let me down today!

God let me down today!

family, home, self reflection
“God let me down today.” Those were the words that flew out of Darcee’s mouth, my seven-year-old daughter, as she stormed away from me and headed towards her room crying. I just stood there with a shocked look on my face. Then, I turned to my other daughter, Delilah, to verify if I heard her correctly. I asked Delilah- “Did she just say, God, Let me down today?” At that moment, Delilah and I both started laughing because that was precisely what she said. (We were not laughing at her comment, we were laughing that we both needed verification that we heard her right.)

To Hug Or Not to Hug

To Hug Or Not to Hug

Do you force your children to give goodbye hugs, kisses, attention or love to people, EVEN after the child has expressed they do not want to? You can leave your comment at the end of this post. Now, to begin with my two older children I can say that I did encourage that behavior, even after they said no, showed no interest, made a huge fuss…. Whatever their reaction was. Mainly because I am from the South and that is just the way it has always been. (insert eye roll

Bring Balance Back To Your Family Life

Bring Balance Back To Your Family Life

family, life
One of the toughest things my coaching clients have to work through is a family situation that's stressful, heartbreaking or at the tipping point of crisis. Even worse are those parents who are so stresses in other areas that they've "checked out" of their kids lives and future. The good news is that it's absolutely possible to create the kind of balanced, happy and supportive family life you want and deserve.

Wrap Up Family Dynamics

Wrap Up Family Dynamics

family
The holidays are a stressful time for many people. Not only is there more to do, but there’s also a family dynamic that often brings more stress. Siblings, Parents, Cousins...and let’s not forget that uncle who, every year, you wish would just stay at home. But instead of wrapping one more package this holiday season, why not “wrap up” those pressing family matters that are a source of ongoing stress.   This is not fun for anyone, but….

Adventure's at Top Golf

Adventure's at Top Golf

experiences, family, vacations
The hubby and I had a date day and we wanted to do something different.  Something that we wouldn’t normally do because of the kids. I remember hearing that Top Golf had opened a facility close to where we live. I briefly read about Top Golf online. OK, not really I just checked the price. We had so much fun. The price wasn’t near as bad as I thought it would be. (I didn’t read what the price entailed. I just assumed I knew what it meant.)

Your phone dings. You look to see who it is. You see that a friend says she is in the neighborhood and is going to drop by. Your first reaction is sheer joy! I help women overcome their negative mindset and start remembering their light is worth shining!

Welcome! I'm so glad you found your way here.

Hey there! 👋

I'm Michelle — the voice (and occasional chef hat wearer) behind this little corner of the internet where family, fun, and food intersect... just not always in that order. 😄

If you've ever wondered how to slow down long enough to actually taste life (and not just the leftovers on your kid's plate), you're in the right place.

Here's the deal: I'm a busy mom with a heart full of curiosity and a kitchen full of half-used spices. Some days we're chasing sunsets, exploring small towns, and hopping on steam trains. Other days we're elbow-deep in pierogies, trying a new recipe, or laughing over whatever adventure the day throws our way.

I believe the best memories aren't always the expensive vacations or picture-perfect moments. More often than not, they're found around the dinner table, on a spontaneous road trip, or during an afternoon that wasn't planned at all.

What You'll Find Here

🍰 Real-Life Recipes
Simple, family-approved recipes with comforting favorites and fun new twists. Food just tastes better when it's shared—especially with people who understand that dinner time doesn't always go according to plan.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Adventures
Weekend getaways, staycations, hidden gems, and affordable outings that help families spend more time together and make memories that last.

📍 Feel-Good Finds
Local businesses, fun activities, products I genuinely love, and simple ideas that make everyday life a little more enjoyable. Because sometimes the best adventures don't come with a hefty price tag—they just require a little curiosity.

Why This Blog Exists
I didn't start this blog to make you jump through hoops.

I started it because I was tired of everyone else doing it.

You know the drill. You find a recipe you're excited to make... and before you can even see the ingredients, you've dodged six pop-ups, watched three ads, and learned someone's entire life story.

Or you're told to "Comment COOKIE 🍪 for the recipe!" so a robot can send it to your inbox—and suddenly you're getting emails every day about things you never asked for.

No thanks.

Around here, I respect your time. If you click on a recipe, you'll get the recipe. If I recommend a place to visit, I'll tell you why it's worth the trip. No endless scrolling. No keyword games. No nonsense.

Life is busy enough.

I'm not here to waste your time—I'm here to help you enjoy it.

So if you're looking for recipes without the endless scrolling or pop-ups, family adventures that won't break the bank, honest recommendations, or just a reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things, you've found your people.

Grab a cup of coffee, stay awhile, and make yourself at home.

I'm so glad you're here. ❤️
