Nothing hits home like a good homemade burger and hand-cut fries.
We’ve picked up a few secrets over time for making a really great burger: using fresh local ground beef, our homemade burger seasoning… and one that honestly surprised me—a burger press.

Here is our go-to burger seasoning:
1/4 cup garlic powder
1/4 cup onion powder
1/2 cup black pepper
1/3 cup seasoning salt
3 tablespoons paprika
3 tablespoons oregano
1/4 cup onion powder
1/2 cup black pepper
1/3 cup seasoning salt
3 tablespoons paprika
3 tablespoons oregano
Mix well and store in a mason jar—or any glass jar you have saved.
When you’re ready to make hamburgers, use 1 tablespoon of the mix for every pound of ground beef.
When we know we’re craving burgers, I like to prep them in the morning. I hand-pat them and season them so they can sit and soak in all that flavor throughout the day.

Then when we get home, we fire up the grill and get ready to cook.
Our last little secret is the hamburger press—and our daughter absolutely loves using it. Because of that, we end up making smashed burgers pretty often. Honestly, if I had known a simple tool like this would get her more involved in the kitchen, I would have bought one a long time ago.

One thing I really love about the burger press is how easy it makes it to flatten the burgers evenly so they cook better. I used to just use a spatula, but they never cooked evenly—the middle would be thick and pink while the edges ended up overdone.

Since we started using the burger press, everyone enjoys the burgers so much more.
If you are interested in getting a burger press, this is the one I have. Burger Press
