Smashburger Tacos
I do not know what else to call them, so I am calling them Smashburger Tacos.
These burger tacos are easy, quick to make, and take dinner to a whole new level.
Add your hamburger meat to a mixing bowl and season it just like you would if you were making hamburgers on the grill.
Here are the spices I use to season mine:
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Mix well and set aside for a few minutes.
Heat a skillet on the stove. I prefer cast iron.
My cast-iron skillet is seasoned well, so I do not add any grease or oil to my pan. Use your best judgment on this one. If you think your meat or tortilla will stick, add a small amount of olive or avocado oil.
While your skillet is heating, let’s make some burger tacos.
Grab a soft tortilla and lay it flat on a plate. Using a spoon or your hands, scoop out a small ball of hamburger meat and place it on top of the tortilla.

Now spread the hamburger meat into a thin layer covering the entire tortilla. Thin is the key word here. You do not want a thick hamburger patty sitting on top.
Once your tortilla is covered, place it meat-side down in your hot skillet.

For a little extra help, I use my smash burger press to flatten the meat even more. It helps the meat cook faster and keeps me from accidentally making the patty too thick.

Once the meat is browned and cooked through, flip the whole thing over and toast the tortilla side.
And just like that, your Smashburger Taco is done.
Now dress it up.
You can go full hamburger with mayo, mustard, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
Or go the taco route and add your favorite taco toppings.
Whatever suits your mood that night.
A Few Tips
Keep the meat thin. If your layer is too thick, it will take longer to cook and make your taco harder to fold and eat. And nobody wants to wrestle with dinner.
As I mentioned, I like using my smash burger press. You can absolutely use a spatula to flatten the meat—it works just fine. I like the press because I can set it on top and let it keep applying pressure while I do something else.
Season your meat. And do not be afraid of the seasoning. What I gave you is a basic recipe. Truthfully, I do not stand there measuring everything with tiny spoons. I season to my heart’s desire.
Give these Smashburger Tacos a try and let me know what you think.
Would you add these to your dinner rotation?

I help women overcome their negative mindset and start remembering their light is worth shining!

Welcome! I'm so glad you found your way here.

Hey there! 👋

I'm Michelle — the voice (and occasional chef hat wearer) behind this little corner of the internet where family, fun, and food intersect... just not always in that order. 😄

If you've ever wondered how to slow down long enough to actually taste life (and not just the leftovers on your kid's plate), you're in the right place.

Here's the deal: I'm a busy mom with a heart full of curiosity and a kitchen full of half-used spices. Some days we're chasing sunsets, exploring small towns, and hopping on steam trains. Other days we're elbow-deep in pierogies, trying a new recipe, or laughing over whatever adventure the day throws our way.

I believe the best memories aren't always the expensive vacations or picture-perfect moments. More often than not, they're found around the dinner table, on a spontaneous road trip, or during an afternoon that wasn't planned at all.

Why This Blog Exists
I didn't start this blog to make you jump through hoops.

I started it because I was tired of everyone else doing it.

You know the drill. You find a recipe you're excited to make... and before you can even see the ingredients, you've dodged six pop-ups, watched three ads, and learned someone's entire life story.

Or you're told to "Comment COOKIE 🍪 for the recipe!" so a robot can send it to your inbox—and suddenly you're getting emails every day about things you never asked for.

No thanks.

Around here, I respect your time. If you click on a recipe, you'll get the recipe. If I recommend a place to visit, I'll tell you why it's worth the trip. No endless scrolling. No keyword games. No nonsense.

Life is busy enough.

I'm not here to waste your time—I'm here to help you enjoy it.

So if you're looking for recipes without the endless scrolling or pop-ups, family adventures that won't break the bank, honest recommendations, or just a reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things, you've found your people.

Grab a cup of coffee, stay awhile, and make yourself at home.

I'm so glad you're here. ❤️
