The Lost Sea
The Lost Sea is an underground cave with a lake inside it. How cool is that?

Since it’s completely indoors, it’s a great destination for hot summer days or those days when the rain just won’t quit.

I’ll be upfront and honest: there is a short walk from the parking lot to the entrance. So be prepared for that on rainy days.

Do yourself a favor and reserve your tickets online. Trust me, you will thank me later.

The tour begins as you walk through a bright yellow tunnel.

Once you step into the cave, the real fun begins. I instantly felt the cool, damp air...along with an 11-year-old grabbing my arm. More like holding on for dear life, but who’s keeping track?

A quick tip: you’re walking through an underground cave. It’s dark, cool, and the paths aren’t smooth or level. Wear the right shoes. Preferably something comfortable with good traction.

As your guide leads you down to the lake, you’ll see all kinds of interesting things, including Cherokee artifacts, remnants from early settlers, and equipment left behind from a distillery that once operated inside the cave.

One interesting tidbit we learned is that people pay money to spend the night in the cave. Crazy right! That is what we thought!

Spoiler alert —— at one point the guide turned off every light, and the room was pitch black! Total darkness. You couldn’t see a thing, and the silence was a little eerie. Totally fun and 100% creepy at the same time.

Enough about that, let’s chat about the lake.

You get to ride on a long motorized boat that takes you out to the middle of the lake; where the water is clear and the fish surround you.

The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, and they are huge. (Disclaimer: I am not a fisherwoman, so they may not be all that big after all.)

The fish must like the attention because they kept coming up to the boat. Or the guides must feed them constantly. Either way, you can get a close-up view of the fish.

The hike back to the top was steep, but there were several stops with benches along the way, giving you time to catch your breath. Don't forget to look up, you never know what you might see.

Overall, this is a neat experience. As far as I know, this is the only underground lake around here. It’s definitely one of those places you should experience at least once.

Go check out this adventure and let me know what your favorite part was. And if you’re brave enough to spend the night in the cave...I definitely want to see the pictures!

I help women overcome their negative mindset and start remembering their light is worth shining!

Welcome! I'm so glad you found your way here.

Hey there! 👋

I'm Michelle — the voice (and occasional chef hat wearer) behind this little corner of the internet where family, fun, and food intersect... just not always in that order. 😄

If you've ever wondered how to slow down long enough to actually taste life (and not just the leftovers on your kid's plate), you're in the right place.

Here's the deal: I'm a busy mom with a heart full of curiosity and a kitchen full of half-used spices. Some days we're chasing sunsets, exploring small towns, and hopping on steam trains. Other days we're elbow-deep in pierogies, trying a new recipe, or laughing over whatever adventure the day throws our way.

I believe the best memories aren't always the expensive vacations or picture-perfect moments. More often than not, they're found around the dinner table, on a spontaneous road trip, or during an afternoon that wasn't planned at all.

Why This Blog Exists
I didn't start this blog to make you jump through hoops.

I started it because I was tired of everyone else doing it.

You know the drill. You find a recipe you're excited to make... and before you can even see the ingredients, you've dodged six pop-ups, watched three ads, and learned someone's entire life story.

Or you're told to "Comment COOKIE 🍪 for the recipe!" so a robot can send it to your inbox—and suddenly you're getting emails every day about things you never asked for.

No thanks.

Around here, I respect your time. If you click on a recipe, you'll get the recipe. If I recommend a place to visit, I'll tell you why it's worth the trip. No endless scrolling. No keyword games. No nonsense.

Life is busy enough.

I'm not here to waste your time—I'm here to help you enjoy it.

So if you're looking for recipes without the endless scrolling or pop-ups, family adventures that won't break the bank, honest recommendations, or just a reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things, you've found your people.

Grab a cup of coffee, stay awhile, and make yourself at home.

I'm so glad you're here. ❤️
